Mt. Mingya Gangkar was once thought to be the highest peak on this planet. It is with elevation of 7556m. This trek starts at Kangding - the gateway town of entering Tibetan plateau, and this trek can be customized to fit a particular group's interests, budgets and schedules. Drive 360km on paved road, into hill country and crossing through the Mt. Erlang tunnel, En-route we will stop by to visit Luding Iron Bridge. Then arrive at the gateway town of the Eastern Tibet of Kham - Kangding, which is cradled in a narrow gorge along the raging Dzetuo River. The river's continual rumble can be heard in its alleyways where nomads from the west come to sell Tibetan herbal medicine, Khampa knives, traditional Tibetan garments, and the ever-popular yak butter tea. For centuries the town has held the status of "Gateway to Tibet", after arrive in Kangding take an easy walk in order to acclimatizing to the altitude, visit to Anjue monastery.

Day 2
Destination: Kangding to Laoyulin and on to First Meadow Camp

Early in the morning, we will depart Kangding for the town of Laoyulin, which lies at the head of the Moxi Valley. After load up our baggage, we will begin our trek into the Moxi Valley, making about 5 hours' walk before reaching our campsite for today.

Day 3
Destination: Meadow Camp to Yak Herder's Camp

We get started our trip southward through the Moxi Valley. To the east it is a 6000m high "wall" - formed by the peaks of the central Da-Xue-Shan range, and it is a dense fir forest to the west. About 5 hours' walk through an impressive landscape of mountains, rivers and meadows. We will stop to setup our camp for tonight near Tibetan yak herder's tents.

Day 4
Destination: Yak Herder's Camp to Glacier Camp

The road leads up to a hill, eventually reaching a small plateau. We will cross the terminal moraine of Gyatse Gangkar, we will reach our campsite, which is situated in a meadow beneath a glacier. We will spend one more day at this camp for appreciating one of the most spectacular camps of the trip, and enjoying the splendor of the mountains surrounding us.

Destination: Rest Day at Glacier Camp

We are free during the day to explore the side valleys near our camp; meanwhile we will acclimatize to the altitude for the continuing days on trekking in the high mountains.

Day 6
Destination: Glacier Camp to Stream Camp

We will start early on this day in order to ensure we will reach camp for today at early hour. The pass is 4880m, offers some of the finest views in all of eastern Tibet. On both sides are the huge walls formed by the glaciated peaks of the central Da-Xue-Shan range. To the west are the seemingly endless expanses of the eastern Tibetan plateau. After enjoying our time at the summit, we will descend into one of the most beautiful valley that will be dotted with blooming alpine wildflowers in springtime.

Destination: Stream Camp to Yak Herders Camp

In the morning, we will southward pass through deeply wooded valleys interspersed with meadows on the way. We will camp for the night at a yak herder's clearing.

Day 8
Destination: Yak Herders Camp to Meadow Camp

We will reach the fork in the Bu-Chu River, where we will turn east, passing through stunning rhododendron forests.

Day 9
Destination: Meadow Camp to Gangkar Monastery

We will continue through the rhododendron forests before suddenly coming upon the courtyard of the ancient Gangkar monastery. Looming above the monastery is the summit of Minya Gangkar (7556m). We will spend a night here in our camp beside the monastery.

Day 10
Destination: Minya Gangkar Monastery to Zhemi

Zhemi. A handful of Tibetan families live here in huge stone houses. We will set up our camp near this village. This is one of the most picturesque villages in the eastern Tibet of Kham.

Day 11
Destination: Zhemi to Yulongshi Valley via the Zhemi Pass

The Zhemi Pass is about 4660m, which likes the Bu-Chu La, a fine vantage point from which all the mountains of eastern Tibet can be viewed. After crossing through the pass, we will begin our descent into the Yulongshi Valley, where we camp for tonight.

Day 12
Destination: Yulongshi Valley to Liu Ba then to Kangding

Today, we will set out early, pass through a typical Tibetan village every couple of kilometers. after reaching at Liuba village, meeting with the vehicles which waits there, return to Kangding by vehicle.
Driving hours & distance: 160km on paved & dirt road, about 3 - 4 hours

Day 13
Destination: Kangding to Chengdu

We drive back to Chengdu from Kangding along the road we came through on our first arrival of Kangding. Having one group dinner of Chengdu local flavor food of hotpot.

Day 14
Destination: Chengdu to the airport for departure

After having breakfast, check out of your hotel and transfer to airport for your departure (transfer timings will depend on the flight schedule).
